Scott and Todd to set up shop at the Reo Diner

Radio DJs Scott Shannon and Todd Pettingill are two wacky and loveable DJs who host WPLJ's Big Show. We at the Reo are lucky to have them host their show, right here in booth number 10, for their "We Love New Jersey" tribute on January 9 - 13.
Scott and Todd were first introduced to the Reo through their executive producer "Monkeyboy". Monk, as he is called, visits family in the Woodbridge area. He stated," I always stopped by the Reo after visiting my mom and dad, it has become a tradition. When we heard about the Reo revamp my mom got worried. She thought it was going to become a Panera Bread place. Luckily for us, it was all about organic food and healthy living."

Scott and Todd could not hear enough of Monk's recommendations of the Reo before they were armed to take action. They stopped by and were floored by the food. They scarfed down favorites such as our Greek grilled chicken platter, paninis and fresh salads. Everyone was overcome by the soft, succulent BBQ cheeseburgers with beer battered onion rings. The  turkey sandwiches with sweet potato remoulade and cranberry compote were gone within minutes. We had to send Rafael, our man in the kitchen, to prepare some more. Folks wanted to bring some home!!!

We were able to regale stories of Bob Grant holding court in booth number 10 in the 80s. Scott said," Monk's faced beamed bigger than my security light on my back porch. He thought it would be perfect for our tribute to New Jersey. He began scribbling info about logistics and business cards were flying. You can't stop Monk when he's on a roll; or partaking of one with butter."
If you want to meet Scott, Todd and the morning crew, keep the dates open (1/9/12 - 1/12/12). Check on this blog for the list of guests, including Jon Bonjiovi and Lorraine Braco and more information about the show.

Sustainable foods at great prices. I'm in!!!!

The Reo Diner is a great place to go for some hot coffee, a nosh after temple or church, it's a place to stretch your legs for a quite lunch. Now the Reo fulfills your greatest culinary expectations. Well, we try. We have revamped our food to better serve our community. We are going green. We are going sustainable. Oh, yeah.

It was a leap of faith, but we came out on top. We decided to change our menu to introduce organic produce and grass fed meats. We get fresh dairy products from local farms.  The food is tasty, fresh, and without chemicals.
We teamed up with some local heavyweights who believe in sustainable living and good tasting food.
·  McHale's Farm- Bob McHale Sr & Jr provide a wide variety of vegetables, field fruit, herbs and medicinal plants in a sustainable organic farming approach.

·  D'Amore Creamery - Produce very high quality local food using sustainable low input agricultural practices. Their  principal product is  cheese from grassfed cows on certified organic land. They offer fresh cheeses like Buttercup Brie and have Asiago that is 8 months aged. They also sell homemade yogurt, butter, and honey from their in-house beekeeper Ryan.

·  Walnut Grove Farms- Use organic methods to produce happy and healthy pasture raised lamb, heritage turkey, cows, chicken and eggs without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Their cows, lambs and poultry are on pasture every day.

If you stop by city hall for the farmers market, take a moment to visit their stalls. They have been providing great products to the Woodbridge community for 25 years.

The REO Diner Wants You Healthy and Happy

Hey Woodbridge!!! Welcome to the Reo Diner's new blog. Are you eating the healthiest food available when you go out for dinner? I bet you're not. In fact, I bet that you don't even know what type of meat and produce is served to you at your favorite food joint. Well, the Reo Diner isn't your typical run of the mill New Jersey diner.
The Reo Diner has undergone a transformation and we want to share it with everyone in the Woodbridge area.  We here at the Reo believe in sustainable living. After a great deal of soul searching, we decided to change our menu. Partnerships were created with local farmers to provide us with the freshest, organic produce and grass fed meats. All of which go into your favorite dishes. No hormones, no antibiotics, no pesticides shall pass your beloved lips.
Just imagine fabulous tasting foods with fresh herbs and juicy meats, all natural baby!!! Last week we launched a "Nothin' but a Free Lunch" at the Woodbridge City Hall. Mayor John E McCormac was enthusiastic saying, "the Reo is one of our finest eating establishments in Woodbridge with a long and cherished history. I think they have encapsulated the meaning of sustainable living and eating healthy with their new program. Now pass me another BBQ cheeseburger."
Stop in, try our food, and leave feeling satisfied. Don't worry we'll take care of you....fuggetaboutit!!!!
